However, I came to learn my first lesson in Nigeria, anything that was given free was commonized and cheapened. So I would training 20 people and only 3-4 would follow through with what I thought them. Meanwhile people were begging me to come to their states to train them, some were even offering me lots of money to come and out them through. Don’t forget that I was still doing my Housemanship and so I had to remain in Abuja.

When he made that breakdown for me, I knew I had to do something drastic about my future. I needed a side hustle, I had to find something very urgent and it had to be Online too.
Trust me I searched and researched like my life depended on it, because it did. I applied to so many jobs but it was either I didn’t have the qualifications and experience for them or the timing wouldn’t work as I was still actively serving as a Corp Member. 

Eventually, I found an opening for an ESL job, and like you, I didn’t know what ESL was but I was willing to find out because I saw that you needed no experience (then) and it was open to Native English Speakers.

From my research, I found out that ESL meant, English as a Second Language. So the job was for people to teach those who wanted to learn English. I almost gave up, because how is a Medical Doctor going to be doing Online lesson teacher to foreigners who didn’t speak or understand English so well?

But I needed to survive so I had to apply regardless. One of the requirements was that I had to upload a video of me introducing myself in English (this was called a Demo Video). If you see that Demo Video you’ll join me in praising God for the good things he has done, but another thing you’ll see in that video was that I was clueless but still hungry for an opportunity.

To cut the long story short, I got the job and I started teaching, I’ll show you one of my earliest payslip so you know that I started from the lowest rung. 

As you can see I made just $98 but rather than be discouraged, I was very encouraged because from just a side hustle, I made more than my salary in the first trial.
